Yoga has many benefits: relieving stress, building strength, along with creating a sense of balance, confidence, ease and peace in one’s life. If you have been thinking about trying yoga and would like to start, this is the class for you. This 5 week Beginner Series class will introduce and ground you in the basics of yoga. It will give you a strong foundation before attempting a more advanced class. Intro to the Yamas and the Niyamas :: 5 week series with Mia - September 17th

In classical yoga, Patanjali placed the yamas and niyamas before asana (the poses) on the eight limbed path. But modern yoga students learn the asana first. Join Mia and learn what exactly the yamas and the niyamas are and how to implement them into your daily life. We will have “self-work” homework exercises throughout the 5 weeks and lots of discussion on how to practice the yamas and niyamas daily. This class will be both inspiring and motivating and give you the tools to practice yoga off the mat every day. Mind Flow Macramé with Angela Boltz - Oct 7th

In this workshop, we will explore macramé, the soothing ancient textile art of decorative knotting, as a means of living more mindfully . Mindfulness, at it’s core, is a technique in developing our capacity to be present moment-to-moment, ultimately leading to a state of complete absorption in the here-and-now, a feeling of energized focus, and genuine fulfillment in the task at hand. It’s a invaluable tool for approaching our lives with a quality of attention, spaciousness, and ease. Class will begin with a light discussion on mindfulness fundamentals and some gentle, centering breathwork. Participants will then learn the history of macramé, practice 3 basic knot formations, and start a project of their own. Our afternoon will be a healthy balance of instruction and fun, with periods of silence for students to sink in the creative "flow" of rhythmic, repetitive hand motions so the mind can unwind. Everyone will leave with a beautiful handmade plant-holder, along with the knowledge to use as a springboard for further creative play and mindful exploration. Date/Time: Sunday, Oct 17th; 1:00-3:30 Cost: $65 (includes $15 materials fee) *Pre-registration is required
